Where do you start?
For inexperienced runners it’s hard to know where to start and how to scale up runs. Many experienced runners have come to realize that LSD (long slow distance) is not the answer for training as an endurance athlete. The problem they are left with is figuring out what intervals to run, and in what order, to see the best progress. It’s hard to decide what distances are appropriate, and what rest times are optimal. Run Calibrator does that for you.
Who wants to pay $250+ a MONTH?
Other programs are really expensive, some costing more than $500 a month to get individualized programming. Run Calibrator costs $30-$50 a month, depending on the amount of runs you choose, and is not a static, one-size-fits-all, “cookie-cutter” template. We’ve created a program that will progress you the way Brian would if he were your coach. It will assign you the intervals that he would assign. And it looks at the markers that he would look at in making that decision. This program is the first of it’s kind and we’re very proud to be able to bring you his world-class expertise in an affordable package. Brian, who spent over a decade creating his running methodology, is on board with pricing Run Calibrator so it can be used by not only runners, but all different types of athletes who want to use it to increase their performance in their specific sport (Soccer, Basketball, CrossFit, etc.) as well as running alone.
Using CrossFit Kinnick as our lab, we thoroughly tested and refined this system. We experimented and iterated using regular CrossFit Kinnick members, as well as many of Brian’s top athletes. By analyzing and perfecting the coaching strategies that Brian uses with his actual athletes, we were able to create a system that can deliver top level, individualized run programming.

Who is Brian MacKenzie?
In 2002 Brain began training under Dr. Nicholas Romanov, a sports scientist and the inventor of the Pose Method of running. Through this experience, he learned to look at running as a skill. He also began to see the need for speed training, as well as strength training to be able to maintain technique throughout long races. In the following years, he met “Coach” Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit, and everything fell into place. By combining Romanov’s Pose Method and Glassman’s CrossFit protocol, he was able to create an exceptionally potent approach to training for endurance events.
He demonstrated the effectiveness of his training methods by finishing 34th in the 2007 Angeles Crest 100 trail run using CrossFit as his foundation and never running longer than 13.1 miles in training. In 2007, he began lecturing on his methods at CrossFit Certification Seminars, and launched the CrossFit Endurance website in 2008. We first met Brian at one of these early lectures and have been friends with him ever since. In 2012 he published his first book, “Power Speed Endurance“, which was the culmination of all his years of coaching and training experience. He has been featured in Competitor Magazine, Runners World, Men’s Journal, ESPN Rise, The Economist, and Tim Ferris’ New York Times bestseller The 4-Hour Body.
Between CrossFit Endurance seminars and coaching, his schedule had gotten pretty tight. He wanted a way to scale his running methodology without compromising quality. He wanted a way to reach more athletes, without the barriers of time, money, and geography. The Run Calibrator is that solution.
Simple and Straightforward
The idea is simple. You sign up to run either two or three times a week. When you sign up, a new track of programming called “Run Calibrator” will appear on your whiteboard. Each Sunday your run scores are evaluated and new ones will be added to your calendar and emailed to you. The runs you are assigned each week will depend on your performance the previous week. This means each athlete will receive their own individualized program.
You will also be able to view your progress. By looking at your Run Calibrator analysis page, you can see whether you hit your targets, and how far off you were. Sometimes you will be asked to repeat a specific interval, sometimes you will be assigned a different interval, depending on your progress and results.
