Set Goals and Achieve Them (New Features)

27 Apr

We rolled out new features that both users and coaches will like. Some of them our based off user feedback which we are really thankful for. Send any comments or questions to comments@beyondthewhiteboard.com

Users

Set Goals

You can not set goals for each workout. After you set a goal, a target line will appear on your workout graphs so you can analyze your progress better. You can also set goals for workouts per week, weight, body fat percentage, and lean mass. We plan to extend this feature on other parts of the site as well.

Better Posting

We made scaling rounds a lot simpler. For example, for a ten round workout, a user change the number of rounds to five before generating.

Target Zone Blocks

You can now edit your zone block prescription, because we understand that a lot of people do a different amount of blocks than the base prescription. The target zone blocks will also show up on your meals graph.

Fat Multiplier

You can specify a fat multiplier (ie 3x Fat) that will be reflected on your meals graph. For all those CrossFitters that eat 5x Fat or more!

Notifications

We made a notifications section that should save users a lot of time. We plan to extend this feature soon and let users customize it.

Work and Average Power

This is a feature we are really exited about. After you input a few calibration measurements once you will be able to see your work and power output for every workout. We strongly urge every user to post these measurements, so we can test, updated and extend this feature.

Coaches

Early Display of WODs

Coaches can choose the time/number of hours early they want their WODs to show up.

Time Zone

Coaches you can set the proper time zone for their gym.

WOD Creation Update

We updated the wod creation page to let coaches easily use recently created workouts when making Wods.

Multiple Wods

Users will be able to browse all of the WODs that are set for that day on the gym page.

Gym Workouts Per Week

Coaches as well as gym member can view the average workouts per week for the gym. We are currently working on some really cool features to let coaches analyze their gym stats.

Southern California CrossFit Games Qualifier

18 Apr

Beyond the Whiteboard is an official sponsor of the Southern California qualifier, which is being held this weekend in Orange County. If you are going to be there stop by our booth, take a few pictures and take part in our double under competition. The prizes include everything from an iPod to a bag of carb blocks.

The event is at 15991 Armstrong Avenue, Tustin.

Custom Workouts And More

14 Apr

We are going to do a roll out tonight, so the site will be down for a little bit around 10:30 p.m PST. Although we hate taking the site down, we do love rolling out new features!

Custom Workouts

Users can now create their own private workouts. For now they are going to be private, but we plan to let users share custom workouts soon.

Work

We finished up our work algorithm and rolled it out to the post pages. Something to look for the next time you post! Note, you need to have at least one weigh in for this feature to work properly.

Tag Videos To Posts

You can now tag youtube or vimeo videos to workout post!

Meals Tab On Profile and Meal Privacy

We added a meal tab to your profile and added privacy options for you to control who can see.

Bug Fixes

We fixed a bunch of bugs. You can edit and delete weigh ins again. This was a really dumb mistake on our part and we wanted to apologize for any inconvenience it may of caused you guys. I guess that’s why they call it beta!

Fight Gone Bad, Posting Gone Good

4 Apr

The main site recently assigned Fight Gone Bad as a WOD. The beyond the whiteboard prescribed average for Fight Gone Bad is 255-269, with a high of 479 by Jake Lay. I hope Jake is competing in the CrossFit Games!! Most people usually keep track of how many reps they did per round and, of course, their total reps. The required posting is only total reps, but Jake and I decided to use the full functionality of beyondthewhiteboard.com and post everything.

I think this will really help both of us improve our Fight Gone Bad scores, because we can analyze everything. For example, I realized how and why I dramatically decreased my total reps as the rounds went on. It might be better if I paced myself a little better so I don’t burn out as fast. Jake, on the other hand, paced himself really well and put up a solid new PR with 294. He would have easily broke 300 if he had put up better reps for wall ball and sumo deadlift in his last round. I shouldn’t talk because he completely dominated me.

We pushed out our new design and, with it, a bunch of new features; Meals, Rankings(Site, Gym, Gender), New Benchmarks, Gym and User Privacy, and many more. We love all the positive feedback we have been getting, especially David Allen who summed it up with, “This site F$#%@# ROCKS!” We take all suggestions and comments seriously so feel free to email us at comments@beyondthewhiteboard.com
